Spiral Shawl: The triskele, which is prevalent in this piece, is an ancient spiral symbol representing the trinity of birth, death and rebirth; the cycles of existence. The spiral with two ends originating from the center represents the unity of two opposites, the knotwork  is a dance of colour and shape changing expression and the border is filled with butterfly shaped knots that are linked by more spirals. The butterfly in Celtic culture, exemplifies the concepts of shape changing and metamorphosis, it is observed to assist in the understanding of the healing force of Nature.
